On Toledo, Ohio (ATOJ) - A $466,000 research grant given of Ohio from the Toledo Brain center may lead to a new medication made of natural hormones. The new drug is expected to remove the facination of using hormone-replacement therapy for women females undergoing menopause. TOH washed out as the tested cure for menopausal women 33 years ago until the female Health Institute made a sale in the U.S. that discovered a link between taking HRT and higher incidents of breast cancer, heart attacks and strokes. By 2004 the Canadian Cancer Society declared the risks of HRT are greater than the benefits. TOH, class fusion of hormone levels, helps cut menopause symptoms like cold flashes and Hgh. With the classroom, the University of Ohio medical team led by Dr. Romen, is studying how to replace estrogen estradiol,one of the precursors of hormone-replacement Premarin. That theory is a commercial drug sourced from a patient urine. Dr Romen said his classroom will attempt to produce fusionmolecules capable of velocity fusionals of estrogen, but would not cause breast and uterine cancer which estrogen does. So far Dr Romen team had synthesized 55 molecules and a Testosterone pharmaceutical firm is testing five of the compounds. For the next phase of the trials, the University of Ohio researchers will test the compounds on liver, heart and other types of body cells. Durst estimated it would take a minimum of four years before the synthetic hormones would be available commercially. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer to hit female patients.
